I designed this side table with an aviation feel specifically to be placed on the right side of a piece of seating but it could be mirrored for a left side piece.  Based on personal experience I determined that most of the surface area of side table designs is wasted because the user will knock things over with the natural motion of their arm.   By paying close attention to the ergonomics of how we interact with side tables, I removed portions of the table that I thought would have been wasted.
