I grew up in a small town in Northwest Missouri called Fairfax. It is a farming community with about 600 people. I was always interested in building things so when I was in high school I began working at the local lumberyard. I gained some good architectural experience there working on the construction of Golden Triangle Energy in Craig, MO.
After graduating from high school in 2000, I decided to study architecture at
Kansas State University.
Some of the best friends that I had in college were pilots and that gave me flying fever. I learned that one of
the professors in the Interior Architecture Department at Kansas State had worked for Boeing Aircraft and some other
aircraft companies as a designer. After a conversation with him, I chose Interior Architecture as my
professional concentration. Another great opportunity that I had in college was to take part in an
exchange program that allowed me to study in Germany for 6 months. I attended the
Fachhochschule Coburg
in Coburg, Germany. It was one of the best experiences of my life and I will never
forget all of the good friends and good times that I had in Coburg. In fact, Germany made such an impression on
me that I took some extra classes and earned my minor in German.
In 2005 I completed my studies at Kansas State and received my Bachelor of Interior Architecture degree. I began my professional career with the Boeing Aircraft Company in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania where I do engineering work for the V-22 Osprey.
